THE FOUNDER / DESIGNER

The Mind Behind AURENLIO

AURENLIO was founded by an independent fashion designer whose practice explores the relationship between the human body, material, silhouette, and future expression.

With an educational background spanning film and fashion design, and a specialisation in knitwear at Central Saint Martins, the designer approaches clothing through a combination of visual storytelling, technical understanding, and material experimentation.

Shaped by international education, professional experience, and an ongoing curiosity about the world, the practice moves between contrasting aesthetics, unexpected materials, and diverse creative references.

Rather than being confined to a single style or established category, AURENLIO provides a space for continuous exploration — where each creation can develop its own identity, purpose, and form.

EDUCATION

Central Saint Martins
University of the Arts London
BA (Hons) Fashion Design with Knitwear

The designer’s creative journey began with an early interest in film before transitioning into fashion design. This foundation in visual storytelling continues to inform an approach to composition, atmosphere, and the communication of ideas through physical form.

At Central Saint Martins, the designer specialised in fashion design and knitwear, developing a foundation in garment construction, textile exploration, silhouette development, and experimental design.

This combination of visual thinking and technical practice continues to shape the creative process behind AURENLIO.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

SCABAL

Design Language Project Leader · Internship
Savile Row, London
One-Year Internship

A one-year internship at SCABAL provided experience within the British luxury textile industry, with a focus on design language.

Working at the intersection of textile heritage, material expression, and design identity offered a deeper understanding of how fabrics, craftsmanship, and visual direction contribute to the character of a design.

The experience strengthened an appreciation for material quality, considered construction, and the relationship between traditional textile expertise and contemporary creative expression.

CONNER IVES

Fashion Design Intern
One-Month Internship

A short-term internship with CONNER IVES, an independent contemporary womenswear brand, provided exposure to the creative environment of an independent fashion label.

The experience offered further insight into contemporary fashion design, visual identity, and the development of distinctive design perspectives.

Together, these experiences contributed to a broader understanding of fashion — from material and craftsmanship to the creative identity of a brand.

INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVES

Growing up in China, studying in the United States, and later pursuing fashion education in London allowed the designer to encounter different cultural contexts, visual languages, and approaches to creativity.

These experiences helped shape an open and evolving design perspective — one that draws inspiration from different places, periods, and disciplines without being confined to a single aesthetic.

Tradition and experimentation, structure and fluidity, refinement and rawness can coexist within the same creative practice.

For AURENLIO, these contrasts are not limitations to resolve, but possibilities to explore.

The result is a design approach that values curiosity, individuality, and the freedom to move beyond familiar boundaries.

A PRACTICE WITHOUT FIXED BOUNDARIES

AURENLIO is built around the belief that design should remain open to exploration.

Rather than following a fixed visual formula, each creation begins with an idea, a material, a silhouette, or a question. The process develops according to the needs of the concept, allowing different techniques and aesthetics to emerge naturally.

The practice may take shape through sculptural clothing, experimental knitwear, handmade accessories, reworked garments, or entirely new forms of expression.

Some creations are defined by their structure. Others by their texture, construction, or the relationship they establish with the body.

What connects them is not a single technique, but a willingness to experiment and a commitment to developing a distinct point of view.

For AURENLIO, the method serves the idea — not the other way around.

THE WAY WE CREATE

AURENLIO embraces different approaches to making, according to the character and intention of each design.

From one-of-one creations and limited releases to made-to-order pieces, personalised designs, and handmade objects, each production method offers different possibilities for expression.

Not every idea needs to be reproduced at scale. Some are best realised as singular pieces; others evolve through small series or individual commissions.

This flexible approach allows the creative process to remain responsive to materials, construction, and the individuality of each work.

Rather than defining value through quantity alone, AURENLIO places emphasis on design intention, material consideration, and the character of the finished piece.

Each creation is developed with the possibility of becoming more than a passing trend — an individual expression shaped by its own design language.

BEYOND THE DESIGNER

AURENLIO is an ongoing exploration of what fashion and objects can become when familiar boundaries are questioned.

Rooted in technical knowledge and informed by diverse experiences, the practice continues to evolve through experimentation, material discovery, and the pursuit of new forms.

The aim is not to follow a predetermined definition of the future, but to explore the possibilities that emerge when the body, material, and imagination meet.

Every creation becomes another step in that process.
